For this layout I used the Illumination collection and paired it with a hint on yellow as a contrast to the more neutral grey colour.

I LOVE the die cut stickers and used some black ones to create an even more contrasting effect

A mixed media project for Prima featuring Bella Rouge

Good morning... I hope all is well with you today, one day before Christmas! I am posting about Prima today but I would also like to take this chance to wish you all a happy holiday season whether you celebrate Christmas or not and a happy new year! Thank you all for all the love and support throughout 2014.. I would say it was a great year but a little up and down on the creative side. I think once again I took too much on earlier in the year and by mid year I burnt out and had to let go of some things. But then the biggest dream of all became reality ... I made the Prima team and honestly 6 months later I still get a little shock when I say that LOL

I am not sure what comes after Prima... I am not sure where I will be this time next year because I am going back to work in April and I am not sure what time I will have left but right now I feel great with where I am at scrapping wise. I am on what I consider to be the best teams out there because they are all so flexible and so great to work with which is what makes them a DREAM team to be on.

So we shall see...

Anyway Prima is debuting another collection in CHA in January.. I LOVED this one! I think possibly my fave out of all the collections??? Here is what it looks like..

SP_bellarouge-1

Prima Products: Bella Rouge Journalling Note Cards #578992, Bella Rouge Wooden Icons #579548, Bella Rouge Flowers #580568, Bella Rouge Flowers #580551, Bella Rouge Flowers #580520, Bella Rouge Flowers #580544, 6 x 6 stencil Magnolias #579913, Art Basics Heavy Gesso White #961442, Art Basics Soft Matte Gel #961428

I was sent this Dress Form by The Flying Unicorn and it just was PERFECT for this collection.

I started by tearing bits of the Bella Rouge note cards and papers and adhering them to the Dress Form with the Soft Matter Gel.

I then went over it with Gesso

Then for some texture I applied a mask with modelling paste over it and finished it with AMAZING flowers from the same collection and a a quote I cut out from one of the papers.

Thanks so much everyone! I hope I have inspired you somewhat :)

Take care!

A step x step tutorial and canvas for Prima featuring the new collection Bed Time Story

Hey all how are you going?

Things here are great! The kids just started a 6 week break from school, Christmas is around the corner and in typical tropical weather the days are warm and the nights still cool with the occasional storm thrown in lol..

OK so Prima is releasing a new collection in the upcoming CHA called Bed Time Story! This is what it looks like..

SP_bedtimestory

and here is a mixed media canvas I created with this collection

Prima Products: Bedtime Story- 4x6 Journalling Note Cards #578985, Bedtime Story- Wooden Icons #579531, Bedtime Story- Tags #579470, Bedtime Story- Say It In Crystals #579340, Bedtime Story- Dora Flowers #582289, Bedtime Story- Winnie Flowers #582241, Bedtime Story- Mena Butterflies #582296, Bedtime Story- Ettie Flowers #582302, Bedtime Story- Lenorah Flowers #582272, Art Basics -Heavy Gesso White #961442, Art Basics- Soft Matte Gel #961428, Art Ingredients- Micro Beads Blush #962593, Color Blooms- Cotton Candy #573737, 7 x 9 Elementals Stencil -Dots and Stripes #962326

And here are some close ups...

Now here is a step x step photo tutorial I put together to show you how I used all the amazing Prima products..

1. Use a Bed Time Story 4x6 Journalling Notes and Soft Matte Gel to adhere them on a 12x12 canvas, overlapping each journalling note to create texture.

2. Use Heavy Gesso and brush over the surface , applying especially thick brushes on the overlapped edges.

3. Once dry, use Color Bloom Cottom Candy and spray randomly over the surface

4. Use Modelling Paste and a stencil to create more texture in random areas of of the background.

5. Use also free hand with a spatula in other areas of the canvas.

6. Before the Modeling Paste dries, apply Micro Beads to it

7. Then mix Micro Beads and the Gel Medium and apply to the canvas in random areas once again.

8. Now allow to dry completely, preferably overnight.

9. Once all dry, apply some watered down Heavy White Gesso on top of the Micro Beads and in other areas

10. Before that dries, add cheesecloth and go over it with another layer of Gesso to mix them and also create texture

11. Now your background is done, you can have fun layering Die Cuts and Flowers from the Bed Time Story collection

2. Once all layered, use watered down gesso and apply to your embellishments. Do not cover completely. This is a wash so that it all blends in and also gives it a Mixed Media effect

13. Sprinkle the left over Gesso on the background and you are done!

I hope you have been inspired by my creation!

Take care and talk again soon :)

An Off The Page project with The Flying Unicorn's December Kit Of The Month!

Goodmorning!

The Flying Unicorn's  December kit Of The Month includes a gorgeous wooden sleigh and I really loved playing around with this one. I have to admit I miss having time to play with Off The Page projects. As much as I love them there is a lot of waiting around for stuff to dry and a lot more detail and due to that I always revert to layouts or cards these days. But this sleigh was just calling my name and was actually very quick to put together.

So you will find this kit and all the add ons at the store HERE

Once I coated the whole thing with white gesso, I applied some silver mist and some Prima Mica Flakes

Till next time its bye for now
