Scraps Of Elegance October Kit (Part 2)

Hi everyone!

Back again today to show you one more layout I created for Scraps Of Elegance, using the October Kit Rue des Rosiers

Scraps of Elegance October Rue des Rosiers Kit

"Family Selfie"
Oh these are SO hard to get.. Surprisingly it is not myself or the baby that somehow stuff all the family photos up! No, it is hubby who says he looks a little half asleep here (LOL! Too bad!) and the older girls.. One will have a tantrum, the other will do a silly laugh and hubby cannot keep his eyes open to save his life ! LOL

SO after a million takes, you can see the amusement on my face as I TRY to just get a decent shot. This is the best we can do folks..

Ok here are some close ups. I had A LOT of fun playing with this! I tried different things with some masks that came in the sister club Scraps Of Darkness..

I applied gesso and Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Coral to the background. Then I went in with the new Heidi Swapp Heart Cluster stencil and PaperArtsy Grunge Paste and created the hearts you can see above.

I used my heat gun directly onto the grunge paste to make it 'puffy" which gave it an extra depth.

Once all that was dry, I sprayed some Color Shine in Coral on my mat and with a brush I coloured in the hearts. I then used a Uni Posca White Marker to go around the hearts to make them pop a bit more

The kit included a length of chesecloth, which I sprayed again with the Heidi Swapp Coral Color Shine, and heated with my heat gun to stiffen it. This is the texture you can see behind the photo. Once it was dry, I added some thick gesso on it and before it dried up I "stamped" my hearts with it which gave them this AMAZING texture and design you can see in the close up above.

Added some stamping..and more Grunge Paste.

In some areas, I used the stencil and some Color Shine to draw some opaque hearts for more detail.

Some more stamping, journalling and the title.

A layout for Marion Smith Designs!

Hi everyone!! I hope this post finds you well.

Today I am sharing a layout I created with the Nirvana collection.

"Family"

I must admit it has been a while since I created on kraft paper and the reason I decided to pull one out and base my layout on this time was the brown and black and neutral colours of the Nirvana collection.

I started by applying Liquitex Super Heavy Gesso directly to the background with an old credit card.

I then used a Crafters Workshop Balzer Designs Tiny Circles stencils, and Golden Fluid Acrylic in Teal to add some bright contrasting colour. I then sprayed some Dylusions Ink Spray in Calypso Teal for an added colour contrast.

Next, I removed my stencil and turned it over and rubbed the excess sprays and gesso on my page for a messy look.

Once all that was dry, I added some of my favourite rub ons, from Tim Holtz in random areas and it was finally time to use my FAVOURITE cut outs from the  "Documented" and "Typograph" paper from the Nirvana collection .

These are the 2 papers I used from the Nirvana collection ..

Materials List
Paper: Marion Smith Designs Nirvana Collection
Ink Spray: Dylusions Calypso Teal
Paint: Golden Fluid Acrylic in Teal
Stencil: The Crafter's Workshop Balzer Designs Tiny Circles
Rub Ons: Tim Holtz Remnant Rubs - Words

An album for Sofia for Donna Salazar Designs.

Goodmorning everyone. I hope this post finds you well.

I decided this month to create an album for my 4 month old baby Sofia for her first year. I wanted to do a month by month picture album with a little blurb about anything exciting that happened that month. I take a photo of her each month on the 17th as that is the date she was born in May, so why not make a nice keepsake out of it?

I used this album from Want2Scrap

Assorted Rectangles - Corrugated Album

Did you know that Donna has designed many great products for Want2Scrap and that they are available at their online store HERE. They do also ship internationally and shipping is very affordable on all of these items :))

The album came with 8 jump rings which I decorated with some The Greatest View chevron trim and other trims from my stash.

I added my own trims on the edges of some of the papers for extra detail

Scraps Of Elegance October Reveal + some REALLY exciting news :))

Hi everyone! I hope you are all well. Things are great here. All is going well with baby, and family and everything else. Of course we have some stressful days, as you do with a baby, but all in all its great.

Sofia is 5 months! She was 5 months yesterday and today she started rolling over from her back to her tummy.. OK minor, but a VERY prod mummy moment.

Well anyway, as I said we have had some stressful days. It is very hard juggling the demands of everyday life while trying to be the best mum possible to 3 girls.. with all 3 different personalities and needs. You sure do get lost in there somewhere. I dont know what the answer is. I do feel very tired. I am sleep deprived which makes me tense at the best of times, let alone when there are 3 kids in the house. So what do I do? I stay up late scrapping, surfing the net, unwinding, online shopping, chatting with friends..I do not know what i would do if I didnt have this hobby. Probably asleep by 9 pm thats for sure. But with that, I would have ended up feeling even more lost because I dedicate all my time to my family during the day so if I slept from 9 pm sure I would have better looking skin but I would probably be the most depressed person in the world. Ahhh.. sacrifices :)

Anyway, before I show you my Scraps Of Elegance DT work for this month, I wanted to share some exciting news. I have been asked to be a Contributing Artist at ...

Yep! The Australian flower manufacturer Manor House Creations. YAY! Ok, so when I received an email asking if I would be interested I felt a little stressed, because I was really flattered and excited but instantly thought "Can I do this?". I have been down that path before and let me tell you its not nice to have to quit teams because of your health issues, or feeling overwhelmed. But Manor House Creations sounded really relaxed.... made me a deal  I basically could not refuse LOL! It sounds like a very relaxed environment and they are not too interested in heavy work loads for their DT which suits me perfect! I received a very VERY generous pack of flowers and other things yesterday so I am really excited to show you their new collections very soon :)

OK, so now lets have a look at the October kit from Scraps Of Elegance..

Scraps of Elegance October Rue des Rosiers Kit

I know I say this every month! And I know you probably think I am just saying it because I am on the DT there, but each and every month the kits are SOOOO gorgeous. SO SO gorgeous.

This month, we were treated to Websters Pages and Bo Bunny and to see the entire kit contents and add ons please go to the website HERE

The first layout I will show you is this one based on the October kit..

This is my eldest daughter on her birthday party this year, September 22nd. She celebrates it with her sister as their birthdays are 1 day apart. This girl has the dance moves in her blood. Thats for sure. She just has it.. In this pic she is with her best friends.

I used a just purchased Dyan Reaveley Dylusions Stencil Number Jumble together with a new product I am trying called Grunge Paste from PaperArtsy which is AWESOME to use. It is more fluid than modelling paste, but still thick and dries quickly! I used these on my background and then used a matt yellow paint from 13arts to dry brush over it.

These flowers are from the main kit and are from Heidi Swapp.

The gorgeous cheesecloth you see at the back was part of the kit too. I sprayed some of the Heidi Swapp mist that came in the Colour Add On on my mat and then rubbed the cheesecloth on it, sort of wiping my desk with it and then used my heating tool to stiffen it! That was cool! I had never tried that before and it worked well!

Materials List (from the main kit and add ons)
Paper: Bo Bunny The Avenues collection
Stickers: Bo Bunny The Avenues, Misc Me Stickers Heidi Swapp Definition Stickers
Flowers: Heidi Swapp Magic Paper flowers
Resin flowers: Crate Paper:  Maggie Holmes Flea Market Resin Flowers

From My Stash
Stencil: Dyan Reaveley Dylusions Stencil Number Jumble
Paste:  Grunge Paste from PaperArtsy
Paint: 13arts
