Guest Designer @ Inkido (once again!)

Hi everyone! As I mentioned earlier in the year I was asked to be a Guest Designer for Inkido for one more time and today I want to show you the rest of my projects.

You will find Inkido at PaperCraft Scandinavia HERE

You will find the blog HERE

I LOVED their Beautiful Memories collection that they sent me to work with. It is so versatile... it includes pinks, blues and neutrals, darker and softer colours and you can just adapt it to any theme.

Materials List
Papers: Inkido Beautiful Memories collection
Stamp: Inkido Butterfly Stamp mini

Other Materials
Flower: Prima Marketing Parfait collection
Clock Chipboard: Scrap Matrix
Love chipboard title: Kaisercraft
Mask: Prima Marketing - Sunrise Sunset
Canvas Swirls: Prima Marketing Resist Canvas - Swirls
Mist: October Afternoon- Hitching Post- Sasparilla Spirnklers
Ornate Frame: handmade
Other: Gesso, masking tape, mesh tape

Lots of fussy cutting in this layout. I first started by preparing the background. I used a mask, masking tape and mesh tape in random places and then went over that with a coat of gesso then sprayed it with the October afternoon mist

I then placed down some paper doilies and applied another coat of gesso and another spray of the mist.

The gorgeous clock chipboard is from Scrap Matrix. I painted that with gesso and sprayed it with the same mist again.

I painted the Love title with gesso again and then dabbed some brown ink on top to blend it all in.

Here is a card I also made with these beautiful papers.

SO I hope you like my projects and the look of these papers.

Many thanks to Inkido for having me this month ! It was a pleasure!

Take care everyone!

Altered Journal for Marion Smith Designs!!

OK this has been a HUGE creative month! Although you are probably thinking how on earth I can create so much with a baby, let me tell you some things that save me! A LOT of people ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ask me one question "How do you do it?"

 1) I work extremely fast (and I know it probably shows LOL) .. I do not think too long, I just stick it all down and go , go , go . The alternative is, NO scrappy time. Or creative 1 project as opposed to 2-3 per sitting. So do I have a choice?

2) I am a LATE night scrapper. Yeah, my night pretty much begins after 8:30ish when ALL the kids are down, the house has been tidied , and I can create at ease. I have a strong coffee around that time and I quite often create well into the night.. 12:30 - 1:00am...I have always done that. What happens with baby? Well.. the older kids are asleep by 7:30ish, and baby has fallen into that routine herself! All on her own. I was happy for her to stay up.. but her bed time is 7:00-7:30 , then up at around 11 for a feed and straight back to sleep and then up again at 4am for a feed and again back to sleep. Not too bad for a 3 month old :)

3)I am an organisational freak.. oh yeah I am ! LOL!I work WELL AHEAD of time! I am not ashamed to admit that I do not work well under pressure... No. That's my husband LOL! I need time, and I need notice, and I need to be able to control things. SOOOO.. a lot of the creations you see are done weeks in advance.. If I know what I am up for, I handle it! I do what I have to!

4) I scrap lift myself! Nothing wrong with that! As long as you ask your self first! LOL! Ok you know what I mean.. when I am pushed for time, I go back to what I know. I recall in my head, a recent layout I did and repeat the same techniques, design etc etc. It is much easier than having to think of new things to create. Of course, there are times I experiment. To do that, I need to be in the right frame of mind. But usually, I try to recreate what I have already done and MOST of the time no 2 layouts will look the same..

So there you go! I am not Superwoman after all! If I could give you one word of advice (No its not stay up till 1:00 am LOL), it would be to just NOT over think things! I know its hard, especially when you have limited supplies and you do not wish to ruin them. And I can tell you almost all of my creations, I question them. I am never really happy with them and always think could have done better and ALWAYS wonder if anyone would like them LOL So please do not think I am so confident in my work that I just create magic !! I just GO FOR IT! I just do not think about it too much.

Ok so after all that chatting you are probably ready to see my altered notebook for Marion Smith Designs.

Well here it is. We were challenged to create an altered notebook in celebration of the new school year that is beginning in the USA and a lot of parts of the world.. I urge you to  have a look at the blog HERE, for so many more examples from our Design Team. They are one talented group these ladies. :)

I used once again the gorgeous Scarlet printable collection which you can find HERE

I added some Prima flowers, 13arts mists and paints, a Prima background stamp and Prima Vintage Trinkets to finish it off.

Hope you do like my creation.

Have a happy creative weekend!

Guest Designer at 7Dots Studio!!!

I can finally share my projects I created with the beautiful 7Dots collections I was sent for a Guest Designer spot back in July!!! Things got in the way, like a new DT starting there, among other things and my work was posted there just a few days ago HERE

Thank you Tusia for the chance to be a Guest Designer for you and the generous box of gorgeous collections you sent me :)

I used the Hopefully collection to create this tag. I particularly loved the sentiments written on the papers and stickers of this collection and absolutely loved the bright colours so I decided to create this tag with a message to myself…that maybe when all seems lost and you have given up, remember that there could always be a new beginning and a bright future.

Hopefully collection papers
- Love Me
- 12×12 Sticker Sheet
-6×12 Sticker Sheet

I used the All I Ever collection to create this canvas. Once again, I felt it was necessary to use the inspirational quotes that were printed on these papers to create a canvas to give as a gift to a very special friend of mine who is going through some tough times right now. This is a 20cm x30cm canvas, and I ripped All I Ever – Peaceful Place in random places and created my base before using the die cuts and stickers together with flowers , some gesso, masking tape and mesh tape to create my layers.

 All I Ever Collection papers
-Peaceful Place
-Elements 12×12
-Stickers 12×12

I loved the subtle colours of the Love Is In The Air collection, and the wonderful light feel this collection has. I am a big fan of writing messages on my layouts for my daughters and I usually do this in the form of quotes, like the one I have included here. I wonder sometimes if they will ever keep  the thousands of layouts I would have created for them by the time they are my age, but for now I rejoice in seeing them pull out their albums and read my little messages to them. Luckily, I have photographed all my layouts so they will at least be able to view them electronically LOL.
Love Is In The Air collection
- Whisper Of The Tree
- 12 x 12 tags

The next project is a mini book. I have wanted to do this for a LONG time. The book will store lyrics from the songs I hear. This is the front cover and on the left hand side down the bottom I write “If you want to know me, pay attention to the lyrics of the songs I listen to” . For me, music is everything. I do not go a day without listening to some sort of music. You can usually tell what state my mind is at depending on the songs I hear. I never listen to songs just by chance, unless its a catchy one hit wonder that I dance to with my daughters!  The last couple of years,  most of my songs are sad and they play on repeat each time I listen to them and this was due to some emotional hardships I have had to endure. This is when I realised I needed to document the lyrics of the songs I listen to, together with dates which will serve as a diary to read back on and remember..For this mini book, I used once again the Love Is In The Air collection. I started by covering the book with I Must Believe paper and Just Dreaming paper and finished the front cover with the Love Is In The Air tags.

Love Is In The Air collection
- I Must Believe
- Just Dreaming
- 12 x 12 tags

I  used the Queens Heart collection to create this card set and mini album. I used all the 6×6 paper pad to create these 2 cards and the rest of the papers I made a 6×6 album

I hope you liked my creations :)

Love, Laugh, Love canvas

Hi there lovely people! I hope this post finds you well. Things are going well here :)

Today I wanted to share with you this canvas I created just because..! Well, truth is I had a few things left over from my August Scraps of Elegance kit along with some Scraps Of Darkness add ons and rather than pack them away never to be seen again, I thought I would continue to play around with some of the Faber Castell Gelatos and see what I can create on canvas this time.

Where I would normally mist the background, I applied Gelatos directly on to the canvas after I had applied 1 layer of extra thick Gesso on it. I applied 2 colours of Gelatos and used only some water and my fingers to blend the colours together and spread them on the canvas.

The rest.. ..well the rest was just more fun. Just adding whatever last bits of the kit I had left over and some of my favourite little embellies and finished it off with inking the title words black and going over them with Glossy Accents .

Materials List from Scraps of Elegance and Scraps Of Darkness Add Ons
Prima Marketing Joulee Quartz
Bo Bunny Buttercup Zinnia
Kaisercraft mini blooms -yellow (from my stash)
Prima Marketing Sunrise Sunset Mechanicals (from my stash)
