Another New Collection from Kaisercraft *Sears & Son*

Happy Monday to you all :) I hope you had a great weekend! Hubby was out of out Saturday night and so I spend the Saturday night and Sunday at my parents. It was great being back there with the kids because I am such a scaredy cat that I couldn't sleep alone with the kids at home!. There is always something warm about sleeping at your parents after getting married that leaves you feeling like you are 16 again. When the adults will take care of everything in the night. Well I am at my parents every day, but it was just nice to sleep there ..although much sleeping I did NOT do. I mentioned this in a couple of forums this weekend, as I was kind of freaked out with the content, but I started the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy and read the first book while at my parents. Anyone else reading it?

SO just to change the subject :) I was advised by some very lovely people on the weekend to keep my blog as it is. You see, I have been very held back in recent weeks with what I share here. I don't know why. Well, actually I heard something being assumed about me. Which was really wrong. And I really wanted to change that view of me. And of course when that happens, I go pretty extreme and so I decided to keep it scrapping related only.

I was uncomfortable with that :( After all...let's face it. This is not just a scrapbooking blog is it? I have spilled my guts here for the last 2 years. I have the most amazing and supportive followers who have helped me through the toughest time. I get SO many positive comments and I will NOT stop being my self over 1 or 2 negative comments I have heard recently. I don't think the rest of you wonderful people deserve that. You were VERY supportive and loving during some things recently and I definitely consider our relationship here as the best form of therapy. You have no idea how liberating it is to just let go of some things and share them here. Sure there will always be people that judge. That's OK! But please do move on if the content here bothers you because I love that the rest of you can all put a "personality" behind my pages etc etc and connect with me like I connect with you.

So very chatty I am this morning huh? LOL!

So let's then share something crafty. This is my second month at Kaisercraft and I am still trying to get to grips with the amount of product they sent me. I can tell you that I will be swimming in Kaiser product for many years to come. LOL! SO I am REALLY enjoying creating for them. There is no real hassle with anything...its nice!

Kaisercraft releases 2/3 new collections each month. In my previous post I showed you the Save The Date collection and today I am showing you the Sears & Son collection. This is a "father's day"  or dad themed collection.

This entire collection is available at Handmade By Suzanne HERE

Here is my first layout that I created with this collection...

Kaisercraft Materials Used : Sears  & Sons patterned paper – Trilby (P896), Sears & Sons Collectables (CT720), Sears & Sons 12×12 Sticker Sheet (SS144), Sears & Sons Rub Ons (RB969), Sears & Sons Playing Cards (EM984).
Other – gauze, corrugated cardboard, string, gesso
“This is a picture of my husband and my youngest daughter earlier this year. Its a pretty rare picture as she never sits still long enough for me to take a photo, so this is just so special for me. I cut out a frame from one of the designs on the patterned paper and used it to frame the image of my husband as this layout is about him. Also used the quote from the rub ons directly onto the photo.”

I love that Kaisercraft releases a 12x12 sheet of coordinating stickers. The clocks above where a border sticker, which I cut randomly to stick on the page above my gesso.

I cut these banners out of the playing cards pack that came with this collection, which the smaller banners above were stickers from the 12x12 sticker sheet.

The quote is from the rub on quotes sheet (Kaiser has THE BEST quote sheets!) , which again was part of this collection, while I printed out the journalling and created those longer banners from left over strips of paper. I see here that there is some gesso on the photo ! LOL! Oh well...part of the messy look I guess.

I hand cut the frame and roughly placed it over the photo to create depth and to "frame" the subject..my husband.

SO I hope you liked this layout, and I will be back with more stuff I have been working with later in the week.

I hope you are all well, and happy somewhere in the world! Have a great week!

xoxo Nadia

  3. All I can say is...You GO, girl!!! Like I said before, it's YOUR blog- you do what you want with it! Nobody is FORCING someone to read what you write, and unfortunately we don't have any control over what assumptions people are going to make about you. We just have to remind ourselves that the world can be a pretty mean place and we need to have thick skin...and remind ourselves of all the beautiful, supportive people you have here in blog land- and that they love you for who you are, flaws and all!

Anyways, you've been doing just fab stuff with the KC ranges- really love the artsy feel of this layout- what a sweet tribute to your hubby...

Glad you enjoyed your stay at the parents' place- I'm intrigued now about that book- although I never have the time to read- but who knows?

    Take care :),

  5. this is a truly beautiful LO! love how you captured that photo its so special!!

I did read fifty shades after people talking about the big hype and finished all 3 in a week although the 3rd one could've been written in 1 chapter. I understand the hype but those are not literature worthy lol.

  6. Hi Nadia, I totally agree with Erin who wrote her message so beautifully. It's always a risk when we share via this medium but its so true that people don't have to read it they can simply move to anther site. Keep smiling. xxx

  7. Hi Nadia, I think there will always be someone who has to say something negative about something.. I feel sorry for them... You are a warm and friendly gal and I feel so blessed to have found your blog and have gotten to know a bit about you..So you just keep doing what you like..I used to have a saying on my desk many years ago when I was working in an office that said... "dont let the turkeys get you down" meaning a turkey is a bird that cant fly, and just because you can doesn't mean you should stop because they don't... so you keep flying!!
and I saw this on the kaiser blog, and it is really lovely.. the photo speaks a thousand words of love.. and I love all your special touches...
    take care..
    (and I am well too!!)

  8. To me it has always been a challenge to accept that you can never satisfy everyone. No matter how much work you put into something, there will always be someone who thinks you didn't do it right. No matter how much love you give, there will always be someone who says it isn't enough. I have learnt to try ignore those who don't like me or what I do. If there are 1000 people who like what you do, I don't want 1/2 random people to get me down with a negative comment. If you feel right about something, who are those 1/2 people to tell you, you do it wrong. I think it's great that you decided to listen to yourself and do what you feel is right. And actually I love the fact that you also post about personal stuff on your blog. It just makes me feel like I really know you - like you aren't just a perfect person who makes the most gorgeous creations, but also a wonderful woman, a dear mother and a person with a really big heart:)

Your layout is absolutely gorgeous! That photo is just so special and I love what you did with it. It's a masculine layout with a wonderful artsy touch.

  9. You go, girl...how can a blog NOT be part of who you are...cos we scrap what we are & know...& like to share some of that:) Gosh! Don't you take no notice of no-one:):):) And this is a great collection & I LOVE their rub on sheets with their quotes - Kaiser do that the best of all the scrappy companies, I think:):)

  12. Love the gunge feel on this one - what a sweet photo just adore that head of curls!! And please continue sharing with your "fans" that is so much of the reason I always read every word of your blog (lots of blogs that I just skim over and look at the L.O's)! I agree with everyone else "Ignore the haters". I am on the 3rd book of series 50 Shades - the first one was rather "bold" but I am finding it really sets the basis for the next two so I think if you just read the first one you have a totally different opinion on the book. I have read better books but I am a firm believer that some books are strictly for entertainment AND just like blogs - nobody can force you to read them so to each their own :) You keep rockin' the scrapping world Nadia!!!

  13. Great layout! I know what you mean about staying at your parents once in awhile now that you're an adult. There is something totally comforting and safe when I stay at my parents. It's a treat to me! Continue being true to yourself--you don't need to explain or try to please everyone.

  14. Hear, hear and BUGGER the acid bitches! ooops! pardon my French but I'm just up to my ears with the nerve some people have. As Erin so brilliantly says, this is your blog and if they don't like who you are, well MOVE ON and be quick about it! you are a warm, generous, loving, passionate and incredibly loyal person - don't you dare go and change!! THERE!
He he I can remember the feeling of staying at my parents long after I was in my middle ages, mum loved to feel like mum again and I just enjoyed being spoilt for a short moment. So glad you got to feel that too. :))
Almost forgot to say anything about your wonderful page. Really like how you have worked the subdued colours and that photo really is precious! xoxox
